shadow of man
“Part of every misery is, so to speak, the misery's shadow or reflection: the fact that you don't merely suffer but have to keep on thinking about the fact that you suffer. I not only live each endless day in grief, but live each day thinking about living each day in grief.
Animals feel pain but they don't suffer
pain is like the feeling we have when we get injured or wounded
suffering is worrying about future or past injury or wound.
we suffer because we can think
we can reflect and recreate misery
physical misery is short and small, but it's remembrence make it long live and tall.
